FIRE DETECTION & SECURITY
SPECIAL FEATURE
SIMPLE SYSTEM
SIX APPEAL
GBE is a single-source provider of electronic
fire and security solutions to major construction
projects throughout the UK. The company was
formed in 1995 and has offices in Gloucester,
London and Sheffield.
GBE’s objective is to provide a bespoke,
integrated and client focused project
management service, through strong leadership,
process control and transparency.
To achieve this goal GBE has developed a
unique six-stage approach to project delivery
that helps mitigate risk and identifies any scopegaps in the design. With early, pre-construction
project engagement GBE can provide design
recommendations for alternative engineered
solutions or brand changes if required.
GBE’s technology partners are synonymous
with quality and innovation and require stringent
prerequisites covering financial stability, technical
competence, ethical business practice and
professional development. GBE’s partners for
life safety solutions include Kentec, Hochiki,
Advanced, Apollo, Baldwin Boxall and Gent
by Honeywell. GBE is one of a select group of
Technology Centres within the Gent UK network.
For security GBE partners with HIKVision, Axis,
Pelco, Xplan, Gallagher, Tyco and Lenel.
Recent high profile projects with GBE
involvement are Twickenham Stadium, Great
Ormond Street Hospital, 40-45 Chancery Lane,
Birmingham Dental Hospital, West Yorkshire Police
PFI, Telford Building Schools for the Future (BSF).

Vanderbilt, formerly Security Products from Siemens, has recently
introduced its Aliro Access control system.
Aliro represents the next generation of access control with a
simplified portfolio of hardware and traditional installation methods.
Aliro has been developed in response to market requirements
for an access control system that benefits from a simplified
operator web interface using the latest technologies, such
as mobile Apps. It offers remote system administration and
operation, ensuring simple and effective usability.
Onboard guided tasks ensure that even those new to Aliro are
able to install and administer the system with ease and a highly
intuitive ‘point and click’ interface means both installers and end
users require minimum training or technical support.
Easy to configure, the software automatically detects access
control units in the system and assigns them IP network addresses.
From a single door, up to 512, each door has one access point,
which makes it easier for installers to design the system and prepare
cost estimates.

COMMUNICATE AND CONTROL
Easivent’s innovative IDS Intelligent Damper Control system is available to
buy from Easivent on a supply-only basis or from SCS Group’s Building
Automation Division as part of a full turnkey solution.
It is a flexible and easy to use yet sophisticated programmable control
and monitoring solution and is designed to communicate seamlessly with
other smoke control products in the Easivent range and with most Building
Management Systems.
This dynamic system has been devised in such a way that its network
architecture and free topology provide flexibility in installation and simple
integration into intelligent buildings. It is suitable for all common fire and
smoke damper types.
Smoke and fire dampers installed within HVAC systems are often
a vital component of the overall fire strategy for a building and can be
required to automatically close to maintain fire
compartmentation or open
to achieve smoke
exhaust. In addition,
they may have a
part to play in the
normal day-today ventilation
strategy.

INFORMATION EXCHANGE
Aico, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ei Electronics,
recently launched its 160e Series and Ei2110e
Multi-Sensor.
The 160e Series builds on the success
of its predecessor, the 160RC – renowned
for quality and reliability. It comes with a raft
of enhancements to increase protection and
performance, as well as being easier to install.
The Multi-Sensor Ei2110e uses dual sensors
to monitor smoke and heat levels, sending and
receiving information via its intelligent detection
software. It provides the best response to all
fire types and reduces potential false alarms. It
comes with Aico’s AudioLink which enables real
time data from the alarm to be extracted via an
App to a mobile device.
Both the Ei160e Series and Ei2110e feature
a plug in RadioLink+ module, for wireless alarm
interconnection without the need for a separate
RadioLink base. It saves on installation time
and associated costs, plus allows for complete
system data extraction.
Aico also has a full range of CO alarms, all
of which come with AudioLink technology and
a 10 year life. All alarms are designed and built
in Ireland specifically to meet UK standards
and regulations.

IN THE ZONE
Fike Safety Technology (FST) has launched TwinFlex SRP, an innovative extinguishing control panel, as part of
its extensive Fire Suppression systems portfolio. TwinFlex SRP can be used as a stand alone solution, or can be
interfaced to external fire safety systems through its versatile
set of monitored inputs and outputs. The panel offers a unique
set of features that includes three configuration options for
the programmable zonal inputs. Each of the four input zones
can be configured as Conventional Detection, Releasing or
with Fike's unique TwinFlex Detection. When configured as
TwinFlex, the system uses intelligent fire detection devices,
which allow multifunction detectors, manual releases, sounders
and beacons to be connected on the same 2-wire circuit. This
also provides more detailed device and fault typ
