SPECIAL FEATURE SECURITY CLEAR VISION Russell Drury examines some of the latest security products on the market. The HDCVI 4 megapixel camera range from Dahua Technology Once seen as an example of government’s determination to play ‘Big Brother’ in people’s lives, security systems are now accepted as being a crucial part of crime prevention, from your local troublemaker stealing from the village shop, to large scale terrorist attacks. Unfortunately, we are now living in an age when barely a week goes by without another mass atrocity being reported somewhere in the world. However, almost immediately after these horrific events media channels are full of CCTV images of the suspects. While our security services cannot always prevent the crime, the improvement in technology is making it easier to catch the perpetrators, and the advancements mean the grainy footage is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Hanwha Techwin has broadened its Samsung Wisenet P series with the introduction of a 7.3 megapixel 180° panoramic camera. Designed for monitoring large open areas with just one camera, the PNM-9020V is equipped with multi-sensors which enable it to capture superb quality seamlessly stitched 180° images. Four 2MP images with 3.6mm lenses work in harmony to produce the 180° composite images. This is achieved with the help of a synchronised alignment lever located in the centre of the camera which raises and lowers the sensors in unison to facilitate easy set up. Tim Biddulph, head of product management for Hanwha Techwin Europe, explains, ‘The PNM-9020V’s high definition and panoramic capabilities means end users can achieve an exceptionally high return on investment (ROI), as it can perform the work of three or four standard HD cameras and so deliver significant savings on camera purchasing and installation costs.’ In addition to being equipped with digital PTZ, the PNM-9020V, which is IP66 and IK10 rated for vandal resistance and outdoor use in the harshest environments, shares many of the innovative, practical features with the four other models in the Wisenet P series. These include Digital Auto Tracking, True Wide Dynamic Range, and Lens Distortion Correction to deliver optimised images in every situation. Also provided is bi-directional audio support, privacy masking, a 12VDC, PoE capability and an SD card slot to ensure that video is automatically recorded in the event of network disruption. The HDCVI 4 megapixel camera range from Dahua Technology offers superior video performance of up to 4MP real time resolution and 16:9 HD video output. The cameras also offer reliable, long distance 4MP HD transmission over coaxial or UTP cable, powerful performance and exceptional functionality. The 4MP HDCVI range captures high quality images with clear detail and accurate colour rendition. The cameras are equipped with a high end F1.5 large aperture lens and support 120dB true WDR. With a higher amount of absorbed light, the cameras perform impressively in low light conditions. Embedded with wide dynamic range (WDR) technology, vivid pictures are achieved even in the most intensely Hanwha Techwin’s Samsung Wisenet P series contrasting light conditions. True WDR (120dB) optimises both the bright and dark areas of a scene, while at the same time providing usable video. The camera supports HDCVI and CVBS signal outputs simultaneously, with two BNC connectors. The CVBS connection can be used during installation to connect to a test monitor, display or a legacy analogue system. The camera can operate with multiple devices, including an analogue matrix or monitor. The 4MP HDCVI camera also supports 16:9 HD video output, without stretching and distorting the image. HDCVI technology guarantees real time transmission over long distances without any loss of definition. It supports transmission of up to 700m for 4MP HD video using coaxial cable, and up to 300m using UTP cable. The higher resolution and comprehensive features make the 4MP HDCVI camera range an ideal choice for mid to large-size businesses and other projects where highly reliable high definition surveillance and flexibility are both required.
