MARSHALL TUFFLEX

PREPARATION PAYS OFF

Nick Hayler , technical services manager at Marshall-Tufflex , provides his top tips for implementing high quality , cost-effective and innovative cable management solutions .

British cable management manufacturer , Marshall- Tufflex , is celebrating 75 years in business this summer . Based on this experience , the company boasts a depth of knowledge that is unrivalled in its sector . This , combined with years of feedback from consultants , contractors and clients , makes Marshall- Tufflex the perfect partner for all kinds of projects .

Early specification
Cable management needs to be considered early in the design / specification process . The benefits are massive , allowing the most appropriate solution to be selected and ensuring installation is planned . Late decisions reduce options , can create installation issues and add cost to projects . They also leave little or no time for creating bespoke solutions or trouble-shooting .
Understand the job
Understanding the environment into which the cable management is going is vital . What type and how much cabling will the trunking carry ? Will there be more data than power ? Is screening required ? Will security be an issue ? Is compliance with Cat 6 or higher required ? If in doubt , our in-house technical experts can advise .
Easy to install
Ease of installation is a key requirement and should not be underestimated . It is frequently mentioned when we speak with consultants and although a Marshall- Tufflex solution may have been specified for its design or capacity , it is often also praised for ease of installation . This is where good , thoughtful design pays dividends ; pre-punched holes , easy clip-on / clip-off lids , trunking that can be divided into two or three compartments and a full range of accessories can make a job run smoothly and deliver laboursaving costs .
3D printing helps bring designs to market quicker and more costeffectively .

No compromise on quality
Using cheaper solutions can be an expensive false economy ; it may take longer and be more difficult to install , thereby negating savings made on purchase price . Inferior quality products can also wear badly and give rise to callbacks . A quality supplier should provide a variety of accessories and , importantly , surety of supply . No one wants a supplier or manufacturer to be unable to provide the ordered quantities at the right time .
Focus on design
Marshall-Tufflex has invested heavily in designing products that are hard-wearing , fit-for-purpose , easy to install and high quality . It uses 3D printing to bring designs to market quicker and more costeffectively . The company also offers a fully curved profile with its Odyssey system , which is available in an antimicrobial BIO
version , delivering trunking that prevents 99.9 per cent of bacteria growth . BIO is effective against MRSA , Klebsiella Pneumoniae , E-Coli and a range of other harmful bacteria . It ’ s worth remembering that a more expensive but well-designed and manufactured trunking system can work out far cheaper once labour costs and durability are factored in .
Thoughtful design pays dividends .
