HEAT IT UP
Tansun has helped to improve the al fresco dining experience at Italian restaurant , Piccolino .
Tansun ’ s infrared heaters were specified for the project by the Individual Restaurant Company which is responsible for Piccolino Restaurant in Alderley Edge . Over 20 of Tansun ’ s black double heaters and remote controllers were specified for the project as a result of their instant , powerful heat with easy installation benefits .
The setting of the restaurant offers a distinctive Italian atmosphere , and Tansun ’ s Monaco heaters provide a reliable heating source for use all year round . The Monaco double heaters offer increased heating power and coverage as a result of their 3.0kW heating power , and are also available in a 4.0kW output .
The design heats large areas , both indoors and outdoors , and it emits a pleasant , ambient glow with low glare and no diminishment in heat . The heater is ideal for al fresco dining because , when in use , it comes without the radiant red colour , which can spoil the atmosphere .
The system has been specifically designed to suit outdoor restaurant areas and terraces , but can also be fitted to awnings , in bars , VIP lounges and commercial areas . Piccolino also specified Tansun ’ s remote controllers for the Monaco heaters , which can adjust the heat output and energy consumption while the heaters are in use .

TUNNEL VISION
Ellis has designed and manufactured a project specific product that has secured it a major specification .
Working directly with UK Power Networks ( UKPN ), Ellis developed a trefoil version of its Centaur cable saddle – a bespoke product that not only allowed the preferred trefoil arrangement of HV cables to be run
Ellis ’ first Centaur cable saddles installed in UKPN ’ s London Power Tunnels
through a stretch of tunnel between New Cross and Finsbury Market , but also significantly reduced the number of supports required .
Manufactured from marine grade aluminium , the new Ellis Centaur trefoil is similar in design to its existing Centaur cable saddle , but with alternative base profile and dual flair to accommodate trefoil cables . When installed , it allows for a 268mm cable sag and was tested to 19kA RMS for 0.1s ( 48.5kA peak ), 40kA RMS for 0.1s ( 117kA peak ) and given a thermal test of 19kA for 3s .
In addition to UKPN , Ellis has recently designed and developed bespoke solutions for a number of projects , including the New Wear Crossing in Sunderland and the HelWin2 offshore wind farm .

MEMBERS ONLY
A sensitive heritage lighting upgrade is providing a warm , three-dimensional glow at one of London ’ s most unique and distinguished private members ’ clubs .
Established in 1836 , the Reform Club in Pall Mall is one of London ’ s – and arguably one of the world ’ s – most celebrated private members ’ clubs . The Club recently underwent a remarkable , historically sensitive restoration initiative , under the project leadership of club member Anthony Capo-Bianco .
Connected Light was enlisted to devise a new lighting specification for the space . By collaborating over many months with both Historic England and Westminster City Council , the company was able to deliver a solution that both met heritage requirements and delivered on Capo Bianco ’ s vision .
In what is a milestone installation in terms of Grade I listed interiors , Connected Light ’ s specification is based around a multiple-source , cross-wash solution that engenders the desired ‘ three-dimensional ’ look . Each of the fittings is the size of a thumb and is therefore very unobtrusive both individually and collectively . Utilising the DALI protocol , the LED luminaires are masterminded by a central , computer-based system that yields individual control of all light sources .
For Capo-Bianco , the lighting has recreated the ‘ sense of theatre ’ intended by architect Charles Barry ’ s original 1841 design .

GUEST ACCESS
When a 16th Century building located in the heart of Oxford was refurbished to create a luxurious and modern hotel , the building required a keyless access system . The hotel ’ s team specified dormakaba ’ s Oracode solution and in doing so , became the first hotel of its kind in the UK to benefit from a system that could integrate with an online reservation system ; making checking in and out easy for guests while at the same time providing the highest levels of security .
The team from the Museum Hotel Oxford tasked dormakaba with providing keyless access control that could meet the challenge of integration with its own systems , and the need to provide smart and secure access to the hotel rooms as well as common access doors .
The Oracode web-based keyless access system proved an ideal solution . A secure web-based platform , it integrated easily with the hotel ’ s online reservation system . When guests make a booking they receive a time sensitive pin , with automatic start and expiry dates related to the duration of the guests ’ stay , which they can then use to access their rooms . This also allows greater flexibility for hotel staff , allowing for 24 / 7 unmanned check in as the remote access means staff can generate codes and email or text them to guests .
