The Sheriff’s Office Expenditures in FY 2018 were significantly under budget. In FY 2018, our expenditure budget had a $4,434,480 fund balance. Due to an industry standard vacancy rate of 5% to 6%, we consistently see fund balances in our Salaries and Benefits Cost Centers. Our fund balance in Salaries and Benefits in FY 2018 was $1,417,658. We also did a fantastic job staying under budget in our services, supplies and large equipment purchases, where we came in under budget by $2,079,002.

The Sheriff’s Office takes pride in spending what we need in a given fiscal year, not spending all we have. Fund Balances that we have achieved through fiscally conservative spending has allowed the County to offset costs for other important projects like the upcoming purchase of a new Records Management System.
