El Dorado County Sheriff's Office 2018 Annual Report | Page 2

Until next year...Thank You!

2018 was a year of growth for the Sheriff’s Office. The climate of law enforcement continues to change and evolve into the new normal and we have spent the last few years evaluating, ‘Are we prepared?’ Is El Dorado County prepared for this new normal? The answer is yes.

The new normal relates directly to how we are policing. Still Total Enforcement, Total Care, Total Professionalism, but how we are addressing issues and the types of issues we encounter in public safety on a daily basis have changed.

The first line of Sheriff D’Agostini’s vision statement reads, “A modern approach to traditional law enforcement values,” and this has never been more true. The core values of law enforcement have remained the same since its inception, but the way we carry out those values in a modern world continues to evolve.

Members of our community entrust us to be prepared for the worst types of disasters and mediate relevant issues. The Sheriff’s Office continues evaluating their policies and procedures, and updating as needed to ensure we are meeting the needs of a changing and growing community.

Every employee of the Sheriff’s Office is provided a copy of the United States Constitution because at the core of everything we do, every decision we make, we are bound by that document to put the interest of the public first.

"Public service must be more than doing a job efficiently and honestly. It must be a complete dedication to the people and to the nation."
