KITSINIS SHOWS NO MERCY ON RUSTLERS
Dons thump
Golden West 9-0 ending its final home game on a high note .
Led by sophomore Kali Kitsinis ’ two hit shutout , the Dons enforced the mercy rule against the Golden West Rustlers , winning the game 9-0 in five innings on Monday .
The team honored sophomores Kitsinis and Priscilla De La Torre , as it was their last regular season home game .
“ I loved it and I am so happy I made the decision to come to SAC ,” said Kitsinis about her career at Santa Ana College
Kitsinis earned her 10th win of the season , going the full five innings and only giving up two hits .
The Dons made a statement right from the start with all nine of its runs coming in the first inning . Santa Ana capitalized on eight hits and two errors in the inning to set the tone .
Freshman Jeana Gonzales and Makayla Peralta both had two hits and drove in two runs to help the Dons with a huge nine run inning . Gonzales continued her break-out season with another great performance . She is batting
359 . with 31 RBIs and 42 hits .
The Dons are at the bottom of the OEC in most hitting categories ; however , they rank at the top in most of the pitching categories .
Santa Ana is third in team ERA with a 2.87 overall and have allowed the fourth fewest runs with 103 .
With the win , the Dons remain in second place in the Orange Empire Conference ( 14-6 ) with an overall record of ( 22-15 ). Next up are the regional playoffs for Santa Ana .
Sophomore Kali Kitsinis is taking the Dons ’ pitching staff to new heights this season . She appeared in 31 games and struck out 63 batters . Kitsinis ranks fourth in the Orange Empire Conference in that category . However , strikeouts aren ’ t the only attribute she holds on her great pitching resume . The pitcher ranks fifth in the conference with an ERA of 2.68 . Over the course of the season Kitsinis dealt with a large workload , carving up a total of 151.1 innings pitched and ranking third in the OEC .
