Whether it be for condoms or vaccinations, the Student Health and Wellness Center provides staff evaluations, medicine for injuries and illnesses and referrals for treatment outside the center. An informal survey at SAC shows the majority were unaware of the health fee and its purpose. “As a full-time student, you never know when you are going to need the services the health fee provides,” SAC music major Brayen Juarez said. This fee is charged to all students whether or not they choose to use health services, according to SAC policies. Some students qualify for a health fee waiver if applicable. However, a payment is not required until the end of the semester, Debbie Clark, an intermediate clerk said. Services are provided by the Student Health and Wellness Center, located in room V-211. —Marc Ibarra RELAX / Psychologists suggest physical activities can help aid with anxiety and stress. / Dreamstime / TNS SELF-CARE /STORY BY JORDY ESPINOZA TAKING TIME TO SAVE YOUR MIND A survey conducted by the American College Health Association reported that 21.9 percent of college students said that within the last 12 months, anxiety had affected their academic performance.
