International Projects
The FR Team, in collaboration with International Design Team Coordinator, prepared a
graphic offer for cooperation for companies.
About 180 companies have been contacted.
Like the previous year, EESTEC Competition
for Android had Google as main supporter.
The Company provided prizes for the three
winning teams, that this year have been even
more attractive than last one (free Google Play
Account activations for first three teams and
additionally, 500 euros for the 2nd team and
1000 euros for the 1st team). Due to agreement with Google, in respect to their brand
rules, the name of the competition has been
changed to EESTEC Competition for Android.
The original name was EESTEC Android Competition.
The organizing team, with a great collective
work and the support of what have been
called Android Knights (local representatives
of the competition), managed to gather 20
professors and developers, who were involved as jury members, responsible to evaluate the submitted ideas and projects.
This point is another big step, putting the
competition on a more technical and profes-
sional level, with a complex and delicate judgment process.
The competition this year, after few months
of hard work and besides the many difficulties faced, managed to collect 250 ideas from
more than 180 teams from all over the world
(31 different countries). 142 of ideas were admitted to the second phase, where 32 applications were received.
The winning applications have been decided
by the Jury, based on multiple criteria, like
idea fulfillment, performance, user experience, compatibility and accessibility.
The results of the competition are as follows:
• 1st Place - Team: PowerHamster (Poland) - App: CookBook
• 2nd Place - Team: pilasVacias (Spain) App: TopBillin
• 3rd Place - Team: Winners Game (Italy) App: In The Space
3rd EESTEC Competition for Android is still
evolving a lot, and is definitely more and more
successful from year to year.
Another important aspect that has been evaluated by the organizing team, indeed, has
been the importance of a correct and formal
process of handover. It was understood that,
in the organizing process, a lot of details and
procedures need a know-how that had to be
owned also in previous years, and that it is
easily possible to be taken from previous year
organizers. And so, to ensure the best transfer
of this precious inheritance, during this year a
great database of all needed documents has
been prepared on Google Drive, which surely
will contribute to the success of next editions,
relieving the following organizers of many time
consuming tasks.
The trend seems to be growing, confirmed
also by the number of ideas and applications
received, still in growth compared to previous
years.
It is therefore considered that the EESTEC
Competition for Android can be established,
as a long-term project, getting bigger, becoming more and more able to give more opportunities to young European students and
bringing EESTEC on higher levels.
As the best end we can write, it’s necessary
to thank all the organizing team members and
people involved in this year’s edition.

The team presented a 2D video game developed for the Android platform.
The structure of the game is very simple and
uses many features of the device, including
its hardware design, “gesture” on the screen
(slide, swap, tap etc.), audio accelerometer
etc.
The game’s plot is as follows:
“In the 3165 the sun, now old, begins his final
stage of life becoming a deadly black hole,
and forcing the humanity to escape from the
Earth in order to survive.
The entire human race runs on board of the
new and shiny spaceships, except for the
unlucky group of scientists creators of the
spaceships that are forced to use an old
space-rocket in fossil fuel”.
