Career - Power Your Future Power Your Future with EESTEC Trainings Text: Nermin Smajic, LC Sarajevo Photographs: Training Team EESTEC was and is investing a lot in the development of its members’ soft skills through different events, activities and trainings which are being organized everywhere in Europe. Both participants and trainers witnessed the big opportunities that these events offer and we can be glad to receive so much positive feedback about them. Becoming members of TrT and even participating in EESTEC’s soft skills trainings is something that changed the life of our members and something that broadened their horizons, made them more open for communication, pushed them to discover themselves and to create more powerful relations with other people. While being students, we have many opportunities to learn, develop and gain new experiences for which we won’t have that much time when we start working. No matter which way and what we will actually do in the future for our living, it will be harder to cope with the challenges than it is during student life. Companies today do value soft skills more than they did before, but still the focus is on hard skills, which is fundamental for their existence and which is the education they invest most in. This and many more other facts leave less space for investing in the development of soft skills in the workplace and this is already a strong reason to take the opportunities which EESTEC offers you, to work on your soft skills and parallel prepare for the working environment, which is waiting for you. No matter if you already did some research on the topic of soft skills or not, before going deeper into some soft skills topics like the ability to manage time, to manage your projects, to have good presentation or communication skills, one probably most important fact is to know yourself really well, sometimes even better than the things you are going to work on during your job. It happens quite often that people are doing something they don’t like or they are not successful at. Reasons for which these situations occur can vary from individual to individual but very often they are that they don’t know their strengths and weaknesses very well, they don’t have a clear picture of what are their interests and what they feel really comfortable with. Knowing yourself and about your traits is probably one of the most important aspect of soft (or sometimes called social) skills. Each of us has special gifts that are better suited to specific areas of life than others. What others like or are good at doesn’t mean that the same applies to you. It’s not always clear where your strengths lie which is why it sometimes takes time and experience to figure it out. Use the chances which EESTEC offers to you, get involved and find out about yourself. When doing so you will have a much better background for achieving better results, especially in the fields you really like and to which you devote yourself and your time, and hopefully in your future employment as well. Members of Training Team: “My everyday life changed a lot after becoming an EESTEC trainer. I observe everything around me and I try to understand more and more how things work, how people react, the motivation behind a crosstalk and many more.” Christos Konstantinidis, LC Athens “I am currently working on a business project in Zepter International as a project manager and being a trainer is why I got the job and why I was promoted to project X[
