On April 22 nd the Chamber of Commerce ’ s Educa�on Commi�ee presented the 2016 Young Entrepreneur Awards to three deserving students at Burney‐ Harris‐Lyons Middle School .
The annual Young Entrepreneur Contest is open to 8th grade students in Clarke County schools to tell us all about their great idea for a product , business , or service for the chance to become the next Young Entrepreneur of Athens ! The top prize for the most promising business plan and presenta�on is $ 250 !

On April 14 th the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce ’ s LEAD Athens program celebrated the gradua�on of twenty‐nine community leaders from its annual program . LEAD Athens , a program of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce , is designed to develop effec�ve leaders commi�ed to building a vibrant community . The intense year‐long program explores a myriad of topics including economic development , local industry , health care , government , secondary and higher educa�on , the arts and more . Par�cipants learn about current issues and explore future challenges through monthly sessions and comple�on of a community project leading to a well‐rounded and fun LEAD Athens experience .
