Madeleine works closely with a friend in Turkey to ensure that the product is made strictly according to Turkish tradition and also to ensure that communication goes off without anything lost in translation . ‘ We [ went on ] road trips together [ to find ] the very special family of weavers that we work with ,’ Madeleine says . She also has a small group of South African staff members who assist her by designing websites and contributing new design ideas which keep the brand fresh and trending . Being surrounded by colours and designs in her showroom keeps Madeleine motivated . She thrives on sharing new ideas with people and values the positive feedback she gets from businesses and clients . This is what keeps the Cotton Company creating a variety of fresh items in different styles and colours . In her creative process , Madeleine holds onto these words , “ I have also come to understand that perfection is the enemy to progress . Just do it and craft as you go along .” Madeleine bears a deep admiration for many South African brands . ‘… they are all part of the reason I am doing this .’ She feels inspired by them to pursue her dreams and work hard at what she is good at . The Cotton Company has grown extensively since its inception just over a year ago .
