For the South African soul, summer is synonymous with
glorious, long days, sunny skies, near perfect weather and
holidays. It conjures feelings of ‘freedom, happiness and
enjoyment of the outdoors’. This is what father daughter
duo, Kirst and Mark Gordon, bring through their range
of Aegean Cotton towels, throws and other accessories.
The name, Summah, was inspired by these emotions. ‘It’s
always summer, not matter where you are in the world,’
says Kirst, and the brand aims to be a fun expression
of the South African soul’s love for summer and warm
climates.
Creating luxurious, quality towels is the aim of the Sum-
mah brand. Each towel and throw is made with love us-
ing the finest Aegean Cotton at a small, family run facto-
ry in Denizli, Turkey. The craft of making ‘pestemals’, or
Turkish Towels, goes back centuries, and their supplier
keeps the process true to tradition. There are even a few
items in the collection that are made with 100% organic
cotton which meets the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Sandy beiges, navies and tinted greys are just a few of
the colours that mark the palette of this season’s col-
lection. The range is clean and simple, with some colour
