50 EDITÉUR PLUS Motivated by people, interesting stories, beautiful lighting and situations she is now a full time photographer. Lucia explains that she loves the mobility of her profession and business and how it provides with a constant of new experiences, good or bad, that keeps her on the go. Storytelling is something Lucia loves to capture and finds that glorifying people who challenge set ideas and lifestyles as important. In a recent shoot she captured 21 century Pin up girls in the urban setting of Cape Town. The series shows the contrasting of modern environments with their vintage appearances. She regards this project as one that pushed her creatively and ended up submitting the series for the international Adobe Awards for which she had the honor of being the first and only African finalist. Lucia appreciates the support in her life and acknowledges that her boyfriend ,whom she met early in her studies, is a huge contributor to her growing creatively. Him being a Creative Director and understanding the pressures , when she started out as a photography she explains she used his equipment to experiment with. The couple went on 2 awards for a student project he had asked Lucia to collaborate on. “I always seem to analyse the possibility of something making a beautiful image,” she tells and encourag- es Young photographers to keep experimenting. Lucia she’s self motivation as the biggest les- son that one should learn and consoles that creatives do get exploited and that they should be weary of it. Lucia is proof of the development of great creatives in South Africa and talks about the times she draws inspiration from local photographers such as Travys Owen, Paul Samuels and Trevor Stuurman, all greats in the industry. She sees every experience as unique and beau- tiful on its own. With tribute to that her favorite shot of the month is part of a easy street style project she started in Cape Town, the project allows her to network with other cool creatives and keep up the inspiration.
