As a child I commentated at matches for blind supporters, just as my dad had done for my grandfather, who was blind. I got a Saturday job with Radio Clyde’s football programme. For a 16 year old, it was thrilling to work alongside great journalists like Gerry McNee and Paul Cooney and ex-players like Davie Provan and Terry Butcher. It was the days when radio was king. “My relationship with Edinburgh
