Jeremie Molho, MSc Marketing, 2004 04 “Edinburgh is definitely the best place I have lived in the UK so far. I have previously lived in Dundee, Aberdeen and I currently live in Southampton. My class mates at Edinburgh Napier really made my year and I had the chance to meet wonderful people from all over the world. “My degree helped me gain significant knowledge of the subject to secure a marketing position. I started my career as a Marketing Assistant and secured a Marketing Officer/Executive post three years later. I aim to be managing a small team, as Marketing Manager, by the end of 2013 and my objective within the next five years is to become a Head of Marketing, either within the organisation I am working for or elsewhere.” Angus Neilson, BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, 2005 “The combination of technical and real world experience I gained from the work placement completed as part of my degree was key in helping me secure my first job. I would also say the strong technical skills taught were and still are vital, enabling me to keep pace with fast moving technology. Despite being a mature student with kids and having a part-time job, completing the Software Engineering Degree with a First has proved to be a great achievement. 05 “A special memory for me was being introduced to Jack Kilby, one of two electrical engineers who built the first integrated circuit in 1958 – he was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 2000. It was a privilege to meet him at the official opening of the Jack Kilby Centre. “I have progressed from junior engineer to engineer and would like to progress further to a more senior engineering post. My career has had its ups and downs but each time I have managed to advance my career so ‘every cloud’ as they say. The company I work for now, Craneware, is the leader in its field and is continually innovating, giving me fantastic personal development opportunities. What impressed me at interview was that Craneware was interested in the person rather than just a checklist of specific programming languages or technologies. They wanted people who would innovate rather than just fall back on what they had already done.” Maria Pouraskari, BA (Hons) Hospitality Management, 2006 “I would say Edinburgh Napier has been a vital component in shaping my career and has added to my personal development. If it wasn’t for the excellent industry contacts, I doubt I would be working within the events industry with the exceptional experiences and opportunities I have had in my career! Throughout my undergraduate studies we were given opportunities to do projects with local companies such as Heritage Portfolio and Malmaison; as well as a nine month placement. This gave us real experience and an opportunity to network with business. 06 “My favourite memories of my time at Edinburgh Napier are the closeness of my class, as well as our lecturers and all of their stories that kept us entertained during classes! They were also academically knowledgeable, with a solid
