Carol Kirkwood, BA Commerce, 1984 “I remember when deciding where to study, I had two offers on the table; one was from Napier on a brand new course, which was BA Commerce. My brother-in-law, who was lecturing at another university, said that to get a new degree validated at a polytechnic would require such a lot of hard work; the course would be well worth doing. “I was also drawn to Napier because it was a sandwich course, which allowed me to go into industry for six months in third year, which I hoped would help me secure a job. The course content for BA Commerce was brilliant – it had some great elements to it and I have to admit I loved it! 84 “I knew from a very young age that I wanted to join the BBC. My main inspiration throughout my time at Napier was that the course would lead me to a job at the BBC, and it did exactly that!
