elcome to the first edition of CREATIVE! We are thrilled
that you have chosen to take this journey with us and
hope you will keep coming back to see the features
we’re working on for the coming months. This
interactive publication highlights how people use creativity in
their personal and professional lives, whether they are creating
something new or finding a solution to a question or problem.
Webster’s Dictionary defines creativity as “artistic or intellectual
inventiveness.” It can take many forms, including scientific,
resulting in inventions or medical cures. It can be artistic or
musical or as simple as anything you can create with your hands.
In this issue, you’ll meet these people who create outside the lines: Patrice G. Coleman, a
makeup and image artist who has spent decades helping actors, models, and others look
and feel their best; Bill Payne, Eva Lindal, and Carol Liebowitz, three jazz musicians
pushing the boundaries of improvised music; and singer Grace Jones, an international
cultural icon who has just released her autobiography, I’ll Never Write My Memoirs.
Finally, our On Location feature this month is set in historic Rome, Italy, seen through the
lens of British photographer Stanley Earl.
We invite you to follow us on social media and welcome your suggestions, ideas,
comments, and questions about our publication. This issue is free to view and download as
our introduction to you. Be sure to subscribe next month so you don’t miss an issue!
See you in December,
