eCREATIVE

make those actors believable in scenes in
whatever the situation. With a lot of younger
actors, all they really care about is looking good
and it doesn’t really matter what the scene is. So
there are times, depending on the project, when
you just don’t need to look pretty! That has really
been an adjustment for me.
What are some of major challenges of
your job?
Do you ever feel like giving people
you meet advice on their makeup?
That’s always a difficult call. But one thing I
have found, unless someone is working for
me, unsolicited advice I do not give. I’m that
girl that feels if people want to know, ask
me. If you don’t want to know, don’t ask me
because I will give you an honest answer! I
always try to be tactful but I am always
going to tell you the truth. If you haven’t
asked, I have learned to just be quiet.
The hours can be very challenging. The locations
can be very challenging. I remember being on a
show and having to put waders on and go down

makeup. You could be on a set where there is a
snow covered mountain and just out of frame

this beautiful scenery. It’s pretty shocking to the
average person who has never been on a set just
how much is involved.

to gather up on the side of the road, and put
in a basket or the way we select a color.
That’s all part of our creative expression. We
all have our own, unique ways of creative
expression. It’s just how we put it together.
I have had the opportunity to work with a lot of
nice people. There have been a lot of crazy
people, but there have been a lot of lovely people
too. I have had opportunities to travel to some
beautiful locations and I’ve been paid well for
doing some really fun, creative work.
We’re all creative. For me, the definition of
creativity is being able to express a person’s
uniqueness in whatever medium they
choose and through the stimulation of
senses. We are all made in God’s image and
God is the ultimate Creator. We all have our
special ways of expressing ourselves, by our
voices, our thoughts, what things we choose
