NABVETS BENTON HARBOR, MI CHAPTER #0104 Officer Installation Ceremony C H A P T E R # 0 1 0 4 (Left to Right) Tony Taylor (Treasurer), Helen Mckenzie (Chapter Commander), Angeliqus Burnside (Vice-Commander), James Turner (Secretary), and Mike Beal (Region IV Commander). On October 25th, 2014, Region IV Commander Mike Beal and National Director Richard Rodgers were in Benton Harbor, Michigan for the Benton Harbor Chapter #0104 Chapter Charter and Officer Installation Ceremony. Under the stewardship of Chapter Commander Helen McKenzie, the chapter had already been making strides in researching the greatest needs of the veterans in the Benton Harbor area and laying the groundwork for the services and support that they want to provide. While there are many veterans in need of assistance with everything from processing their benefit claims to housing, one of the greatest needs is transportation to the VA Medical Center for treatment. With only a small VA outpatient clinic in Benton Harbor, many have to travel to the nearest VA Medical Center, which is located in Battle Creek, for medical treatment. Battle Creek is upwards of 75 miles one-way from Benton Harbor and poses a tremendous obstacle in receiving medical care for veterans unable to drive or that have no transportation. Soon, thanks to Chapter #0104, that burden will be lifted for many veterans in need.
