NABVETS Region VIII, which includes the states
of Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia,
Washington, D.C. and West Virginia, holds quarterly
conferences that are hosted in various locations
throughout the region. The conferences vary
in theme and agenda, but the mission is always
the same: develop leadership skills, improve the
existing services they provide their Veterans while
developing new ones and build on the support
network that NABVETS provides its volunteers and
the fellow Veterans they serve.
With at least one guest speaker of note always on
the itinerary, there is always an interesting topic
to cover and with an event filled with people that
share a heart of service there is always comradery
to enjoy. These coupled with good food and it is a
time of renewal and growth.
If you live in Region VIII and are a Veteran in need
of assistance or would like to assist NABVETS
in creating positive lifestyles and changing
the lives of Veterans contact them today!

NABVETS REGION VIII 4th Qtr. Conference
National Commander Kornegay Message (Excerpt)
Congratulations to Region VIII Commander Richard D. Kingsberry & the Command Council
members for a well-attended conference, and one that will be remembered in Fayetteville, NC
for years to come, by member’s and other veterans from across the State.
Director Cheryl Rawls, VA Regional Director at Winston Salem, NC, was our special guest
speaker and gave a stirring energetic speech on the status of claims in her Region, and how
veterans and VSO’s can assist in the processing of the Veterans’ claims. Director Rawls specifically
recommended that we use the Fully Developed Claim (FDC) due to it having priority, so that the
veteran will have a decision sooner by filing this type claim. In addition to her dynamite speech,
Rawls brought with her veteran service representatives, who were able to process claims for
over one hundred veterans on the spot, during the Quarterly conference.
