Dr. Frank B. McCune, Jr
NABVETS member Major Frank B. McCune Jr., MD, affectionately
known as “Doc,” was born August 31, 1942 in Jackson, MS and
passed on July 23, 2014.
He attended Meharry Medical College in Nashville. He then went on
to complete his surgical residency at G.W. Hubbard Hospital and
acquired his master’s in business administration at the University
of South Florida in Tampa.
He served as a combat surgeon in the first Persian Gulf War
receiving the U.S. Army Accommodation Medal and the 332
Medical Brigade Certificate of Achievement for Meritorious Service
during Operation Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and Desert Saber.
A member of NABVETS and other community based organizations,
McCune dedicated his life to improving the lives of others. He
owned and operated several medical clinics, hosted radio and
cable shows, all geared towards overcoming health disparity and
helping create a better lifestyle for those in his community.
