Timeless Makeup for all Skin Tones

Fall is approaching, and I love seeing the latest makeup trends. Living in Texas makes it more difficult to keep up with these trends. It's hard to wear a dark fall color lipstick and full coverage foundation when is still hot outside. Luckily, I can always fall back on my professional tips and timeless makeup looks. These looks are for almost any skin type and tone. They are not only timeless but sophisticated, elegant and chic.

As a professional makeup artist, a timeless look is my go-to when one of my clients has a special occasion or memorable life event to attend. I always help them to determine their skin needs and makeup preferences. Ask yourself, how much makeup are comfortable wearing? Remember, your skin care is vital for a long-lasting makeup look.

Glowing Skin or Matte Finish for Normal to Dry Skin

If you like a natural finish, this look for you! Let's start with the primer. It is important to keep in mind what primer finish you are looking to achieve. If you want a very radiant look, an illuminating primer such as e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer works best. Is your skin dry and dull? A dewy primer can make your skin look more alive. I recommend Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum.

Your skin is now ready for foundation. Before you apply, let me share a pro tip to increase skin brightness. Add a few drops of a liquid illuminator to your favorite foundation. I know makeup can get expensive and you may not want to spend more money on an extra step. I get it. Liquid illuminators are fantastic and beautiful when applied onto a dull skin and very helpful throughout the entire look.

If your skin looks dry no matter what, use this pro tip I often share with my clients. If you want dewy or glowing skin, add a few drops of essential oils such as Jojoba oil, almond oil, Maracuja oil, RMS beauty oil, or Moroccan argan oil into your favorite foundation. The oils will allow the foundation to go onto the skin more smoothly and with a radiant, glowy finish.

Velvet Matte Finish for Normal to Oily Skin

A velvet matte finish can be a very classic look. Start with a mattifying toner and a light-weight or oil-control moisturizer to prevent future blotting or touch-ups. Follow up with a mattifying or oil absorbing primer to prepare your skin for foundation. For combination or oily skin types, I recommend Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and Armani Prima Trouble Areas Skin Perfector. Use a water base medium to full coverage foundation, and make sure to spot-conceal any trouble areas before applying. Finally, use a translucent powder to set your foundation.
