How during his college days, he partied so hard he almost got kicked out of school. Remorseful for his behavior, he asked God for another chance and promised that, if offered the opportunity to remain in school, he would give his life to the Lord.

What a gift it is when God allows us to be a participant in reconstructing a new life with Him. To embody the union of God is to learn the curriculum of a truly spiritual life. It can be used as a complete set of packaged or boxed lessons, with a set of materials designed to teach life lessons each day. The profound moments with Him come from the most out-of-the-box experiences – things we could never dream of. Who would have thought that a 17-year old college student from Waxahachie Texas that was on the verge of getting kicked out of school who, decades later, would open his home for a “rainy night of fellowship over chicken wings and fries, sharing testimonies”?

While we licked our fingers over the delicious assortment of barbeque, we worshipped, sharing shattered pieces of our past, remembered we are apprentices to Jesus, connected to Him in every moment. Bible Study at Dr. Moody’s was truly an experience that filled our spirits, and ushered Him right on in. As I write about this reflection I hear my sister Vanessa saying “Come on now, Jesus,” her slogan for God to continue blowing us away with His greatness as we stand in wonder and awe.

Thank you Dr. Moody, for your direction and allowing the unfolding of the presence of God each time we gather. Thank you for letting us experience how a path with God is not a single encounter but a continuous journey with the Deeping of relationships bringing us closer to the All-Loving God. As we prepare to move into our new sanctuary on Jordan’s Crossing His love allows us to develop faith, and to trust the path He makes for us whereby we can fully embrace that He is the navigational system to our new location. All we have to do is listen for His voice.
