A Man of Sports “The Locker Room”, that’s how Stephen would like to relate to the atmosphere of his radio show Laying Down the Law on ESPN San Antonio. With six years on-air, his show has been extremely successful and after a short time he had the ability to move on with the show as he would see fit. “I feel blessed, having this platform with my perspective is very important”, he said. It’s different than a traditional media platform because of his background as a player and coach on a division one college level. Also, having relationships throughout his life with team mates that played and coach currently in the NFL such as Dallas Cowboys Jason Garrett, friends that played in the MLB, and NBA as well as soccer, help enhance the ability to deliver a different perspective and form a fraternity of athletes for a well-rounded show. Stephen wants to impact listeners by communicating at least one piece of information that they did not know prior to tuning in.

It is important to him to let everyone know that athletes are not just good with their bodies and athleticism, but are intelligent as well.

As I continued to dig deeper into Stephen’s Radio experiences, I wanted to know who is someone that he would like to interview. Interesting enough, he stated he would love to have Dan Patrick on his show. Why Dan Patrick? for Stephen, this is a man that has been an inspiration to him. He admires his originality, his abilities and his style.

What’s in the schedule for Stephen in the near Future? He is preparing to travel for the super bowl at the end of January. Based on previous year experiences, I wanted to know what are some important things that he will pack this year. Some of the items he mentions are a good camera, a variety of appropriate wardrobe due to the amount of different events scheduled, a lot of business cards are a must to have a successful networking experience, the ability to be flexible with your schedule because thigs may change multiple times, and a great healthy attitude that can carry you on during this very high charged week. Looking ahead, I wanted to know Stephen’s Predictions for the Super Bowl, He stated that his sleeper pick is the Carolina Panthers as he mentioned during his show before. Stephen will share his Super Bowl experience on the show. Stay Tuned!
