The essence of looking vampy is more about looking mysterious and seductive; maybe even a little demure. None of this can be achieved if you're covered in glitter and sequins.
Elvira was the great vamp of her day, but now we have so much stimuli in our lives, she would just blend in to all the noise in the background. There is plenty of cleavage to be seen everywhere you look, leaving no mystery to be found, which is a key component of today's vamp. Men want to be curious about what they will be unwrapping later. If there is no mystery, there is no intellectual foreplay. So, "less is more" does not pertain to how little clothing you have on.

Instead, play up full lashes with a spot-on winged black liner, and to make it a bit more magnificent, try midnight blue or plum liner. Plum against blue or green eyes is amazing! A little Contour powder to give the illusion of high pronounced cheekbones and wa-la, you're done!
Clothing-wise, slink into a LBD (little black dress ) adorned with simple jewelry and some amazing heels. Christian Louboutin's would be my fantasy pair, the red sole is oh so sexy, but also pricey. So, instead go for just as stunning but more affordable shoes and invest in an amazing matching bra and panty set. They will make you feel completely done and totally sexy, and will be his prize at the end of the night.
All this being said, the most important key is confidence. You can do all this and not own it. You must own it! Believe me… If you think you're sexy… he will too.
