We are excited to showcase a special family who supports the school’s vision for learning and early care by participating routinely in the blue folder of home activities. Our goal for sharing this feature family is to inspire new partnerships among the families. For our preschool families, beginning in the 2’s, 3’s, and 4’s classrooms, your blue folder is a valuable connection from home to school. It can be overwhelming at first thought, but here are some tips and fruitful benefits this honest mommy, Mrs. Jervette Azzam mother to Tia, has witnessed and shares here…..”The best part about the Blue Folder routine is all the fun activities that Tia can play and learn at the same time. Tia's favorite activity is Show & Tell where she can show and share some of her favorite toys, home gadgets or photos with her friends and teachers and tell them all about it.

We have clearly seen how Tia is doing new exercises & activities every week, and we can definitely see the progress from one week to another as she adds new words to her vocabulary. I like to sit with Tia every day and teach her new things, but sometimes I’m not sure where to start or what activities we should do together. But now I feel it is easier because we have the Blue Folder as a guide to what she is studying at school every week.

We have a point-system at home that rewards good behavior and completing tasks or chores, and Tia is always looking for ways to get extra points, so she knows that her homework is important and a good way to get more points every day. Some work for certain days is easier than other days and honestly it depends on Tia and how much she is ready to do her homework because some days she sits with me and says that we are not at school and she only wants to play with her toys and she doesn't want to study, while other days, she is ready to sit and learn everything. That's why I try my best to let her feel that we are enjoying our time together while she is learning as well."

Homework Does Work!
