Education The Keller Independent School District serves nearly 35,000 students, Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, who live in the 51 square miles that the district serves. In addition to the City of Keller, students in portions of eight other neighboring cities attend KISD schools. Keller ISD strives to educate students to achieve their highest standards of performance by engaging them in exceptional opportunities. Those opportunities are not only found in engaging core classroom environments, but also through focused college and career readiness courses that include rigorous Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, in addition to highly- regarded extracurricular offerings in academics, athletics and fine arts. At the heart of everything Keller ISD offers is the drive to prepare students for their individual future. Whether students aim to attend a college or university, to serve our country in the U.S. Armed Forces, or to immediately join the workforce, students leave Keller ISD on a trajectory for success. Integral to preparing students for postsecondary success is a strong focus on CTE. These programs ensure that students have the opportunity to explore various fields of study, participate in internships and externships, and perhaps even obtain industry-standard certifications and licensures. Keller ISD’s focus on college and career readiness continues to grow, and each year enrollment increases in the district’s CTE courses. In 2016, Keller ISD opened the Keller Center for Advanced Learning (KCAL) – a campus devoted to expanding CTE opportunities for students and offering the latest, state-of-the art tools, equipment, and technology in which to explore future career paths. Home to 14 of the district’s 32 CTE programs, KCAL hosts students who daily commute from their home campus to have access to innovative learning spaces and an exceptional faculty, many of whom have held successful careers in their respective fields prior to teaching. In an economy that requires well-trained and highly-skilled professionals, CTE is a proven method of empowering young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful members of the workforce. The district expects continued growth in its CTE programs in the coming years, and along with that an increase in its relationship with local businesses and regional industries as Keller ISD prepares our community’s future workforce. 8
