EatInEatOut Holiday 2015 | Page 63

I look forward to the holidays most of all because it’s a time of delicious indulgence and sugar-laden decadence. It’s also the only time of the year it’s completely acceptable to balance a piece of cake in one hand and several cookies in another. In fact, the most thoughtful gift one could give me is a tray of assorted homemade cookies. It’s made with love, every age can enjoy, and one size fits all. My holiday baking is where I like to shine. I casually plan out my dinner menu, but I meticulously plan out my desserts. Desserts for me have always been the pièce de résistance. Turkey is turkey; ham is ham, but the presentation of a rich Black Forest Gateau, an Eggnog Cheesecake, or even Chocolate Brownie Trifles with Salted Caramel Sauce can be a showstopper in itself. As long as you give yourself permission to indulge, family and friends alike will follow suit. Remember, it’s the holidays and it’s been a long year. You deserve it. WWW.EATINEATOUT.CA 63
