Recently we had an amazing
group of year 7 girls from
Hawthorn High come visit us.
They were lush. Hawthorn High
School is in Pontypridd not far
from Caerphilly. They came to
us as they were inspired by
Eastern Chatter and wanted to
create a magazine themselves.
It felt lovely to think that we
had inspired another school
from a different area. They
were all great girls with their
own special qualities and
personalities. We could all see
some amazing potential for
their magazine.
We had a discussion about a
name for their magazine and
they thought of “Hawthorns
Talk”, which is a great name in
our opinion as it can now
contain a wide variety of
articles. If the name was
“Hawthorns
Sport”
or
“Hawthorns Beauty” they would
be restricted to what articles they could include to be
relevant. A great tip is to have a reasonable ratio of
more serious articles to more fun articles.
We also had an inspiring discussion about gender
equality, stereotypes, what we wanted to be when we
grew up and much more. They were very mature when
discussing gender equality and stereotypes.
