On day 3 we went on an afternoon trip, we got all our swimming wear together and waited for the bus. We arrived at the Blue Lagoon and went for a quick shower beforehand. They said if you put a lot of conditioner in your hair then put it up without washing it out then it is a treatment for your hair. The Blue Lagoon is a geothermally (naturally) heated pool of mineral water. It was really warm in there! We got a mud mask which moisturized our skin. Once we finished in the lagoon we headed home.

On day 4 we went on a boat trip to see some whales. We went early to get some huge overalls to keep us warm on the boat We went and sat on the top deck... it was in a snowstorm though! We were sat there in the snow having a picnic for our lunch. We had flasks of tea and hot chocolate. The sea was really rough and choppy. Lots of people were sea sick including my brother (it was disgusting). We were searching for about 3 hours before we had a call from one of the other boat companies saying they had found a pod of porpoises. We rushed over to them but there were gone by the time we got there. We had to head back to harbour and were all disappointed about not seeing any whales. We went for dinner, obviously in a fish and chip place! Alex (my brother) and I had cod and chips. My mum and dad had a fish special of 3 types of fish.

The fish was fresh straight from the fishing boats. It was so much better than here! My mum and I went back to the harbour and saw the Northern Lights again straight from the harbour!

On day 5 we got up super early. We were going on the Golden Circle tour. Our first stop on the tour was the tectonic plates. One was the European plate and the other was the American plate. We then went to the great golden waterfall. There is a myth based around the waterfall. Two lovers were on either side of the waterfall and the girl persuaded the boy to wade across the fast flowing river. He got across and they lived happily ever after. After that we went back to the bus to go to the geyser. Before we went to see the geysers we had a warning. A 6-year-old French girl wanted to warm her feet and stood on the water, which was over 100 degrees! She ended up with 3rd degree burns. The only geyser that exploded when we were there was called Butter Churn. It exploded every few minutes .

I'd recommend a trip to Iceland if you ever get the chance!

This is a picture of Butter Churn the geyser. This is when it is in the middle of an explosion of heated water.
