The four-lane-road bridge will provide an uninterrupted connection between the east and west side of the province of Colon. It will allow passage of the largest container ships (Post-Panamax), in accordance with the canal expansion programme. It will also allow vehicles to cross the Panama Canal on the Atlantic side, whether or not the locks are in operation. 4/2017 The cable-stayed concrete bridge has a central span of 530 m and a total length of 1050 m. It will be the longest cable stay concrete bridge worldwide. It has two pylons with a height of 212,5m and a vertical clearance over the canal of 75m. The owner is the Panama Canal Authority and it is being constructed by Vinci Construction Grands Projects.
