Conclusion

The research project has investigated the dyslexic employees in the workplace and how dyslexia impacts on their working life. The paper also looked at what support is available to dyslexic employees to make their working life as stress free as possible.

The evidence from this study has suggested that many employers welcome dyslexic applications, however it is the dyslexic person themselves that find it difficult to open up about their learning disability, perhaps this is due to bad experiences in the past.

The results of the interviews have indicated that many dyslexic people are aware of their strengths and as a result tend to gear a career out of their strengths. The interviewees were aware of strengths that had been developed as a result of their experiences of dyslexia and which translated into positive attributes in the workplace. These included resilience, determination, hard work, and compiling methodical systems in order to compensate for weaknesses.
