my friends. I finalized my Summer Internship with
Decathlon Sports, a retail store that sells sports
goods of more than 50 sports. After finishing
Term 3 exams, I got into my Summer Internship.
Decathlon is a world in itself. It is not a traditional
corporate where people come in formals and
work in front of computers. On the other hand
it is not a simple retail store. According to me,
it is fusion of both. I learnt a lot of things which
PGDM alone cannot teach you. Team Playing,
Interpersonal Skills, Attending hundred types of
customers every single day. And as the internship
got over, I was a different person.
You should never think of anything but the
amount of learnings you can get. And I can
proudly say I chose the right company.
Term 4 and 5:
I came back after a long rest. 5 of us shifted in
a PG. The circle was small as I mentioned earlier.
I took a part time job at Decathlon which they
offered me during internship. I couldn’t focus
on extra co-curricular activities in college due to
studies and job.
It was going in full speed. We were out of hostel.
No restrictions. No warden.
One day, we got a mail regarding placements. A
big MNC! All of us were thrilled and immediately
applied for it.
24th October, 2016 was the big day. 30 of us
went to the prestigious Christ University for
recruitment process. Apart from us there were
some 300 others. It was a pool campus selection
after all. You already know what happened so no
point in describing.
Conclusion:
So after this journey of almost 2 years, all I can
tell you is, just be yourself. Don’t go and try to
duplicate. Give your 100% every single day. It
matters a lot in the long run. Learn a lot. Don’t
see anything as useless. Nothing is useless. Have
small circles in life. Have some good mentors at
every stage. Some person you get positive vibes
from. Don’t be fake but don’t say whatever is
inside. Learn the art.
