Commission 4th Annual Insurance
Diversity Summit 2015
On Wednesday, November 4, 2015, the
California Department of Insurance (CDI)
Commission held its’s 4th Annual Insurance
Diversity Summit at the University Union
California State University, in Sacramento
CA. There were approximately 180 attendees.
With the passage of Assembly Bill 53 (Solorio)
in 2012, all admitted insurers that collected
California premiums equal to or greater than
$100 million in premiums were required to
establish supplier diversity programs under
the supervision of the CDI. In 2014, the
insurance industry spend was 73% or a total
of $1.5 Billion. A slight increase from 2013
in the amount of $1.3 Billion.
In the early morning and late afternoon,
CDI hosted matchmaking events that
allowed the diverse suppliers an opportunity
to meet with various admitted insurers
consistent with AB53.

Commissioner Jones spoke about AB53
and the insurers' growth within their
suppler diversity programs since 2012.
Commissioner Jones said the CDI has seen
positive growth and commends the insurers
for their good work.
