6 - Incorporating Storage Four walls and some windows hardly sound like a space that will provide ample storage for the average loft dweller. There are many furniture options that do double duty such as storage ottomans. Use your vertical space by purchasing tall dressers, bookcases and armoires that offer lots of storage and serve as effective room dividers. 7 - Warming up the Floor Hardwood and cement flooring can look wonderful, but can be a bit cold first thing in the morning. There are lots of great ready-made area rug options. Depending on your budget, you might consider getting a rug cus- tom made for your space. Warm up you flooring with area rugs that will also serve to define different living ar- eas. Have one large area rug at the main seating area that includes the sofa and another under the bed. De- pending on the overall size of your space your might also want to consider adding one in the dining area or another defined space such as a reading nook. ! ! 8 - Choosing the Right Lighting Lighting is another challenge in decorating a loft since the high ceilings will dictate the type of fixtures that can be used.
