Greenland USA, a leading developer of residential and
commercial properties, celebrated on December 8th
the top-off of the first residential tower at Metropolis, placing the final steel beam across the top of the
38-story tower. Metropolis is a more than $1 billion, luxury, mixed-use property set to elevate the standard of
urban living in Los Angeles.
“I want to thank Greenland USA for their commitment
to downtown Los Angeles,” said Councilmember Jose
Huizar. “Every great city needs a great downtown, and
the Metropolis project is helping us reach our goal to
bring more residential, commercial and entertainment
options to DTLA and enhance the urban experience
that makes downtown Los Angeles a dynamic and increasingly vibrant community and destination.”
“As Greenland USA’s first acquisition, the top-off of the
first tower at Metropolis is a particularly proud moment
for us,” said Gang Hu, interim CEO, Greenland USA.
“Once complete, Metropolis will invigorate the immediate area and create a whole new dynamic to downtown; it’s a perfect example of the type of properties
and investments Greenland USA excels in delivering.”
“To reach its full potential as an urban destination,
it is critical that downtown Los Angeles expand its
population beyond nine-to-five workers to 24/7 residents,” said Taotao Song, general manager, Los Angeles, Greenland USA. “We’ve reached top-off today
because of the passion and diligence of our team
and their continued success will bring more than 300
homes in this first tower to fruition for such residents
by year end 2016.”
Greenland USA marked the milestone with employees
and partners, including AECOM, Webcor, and Gensler,
and more than 500 construction workers signing the
beam. Over the nearly three-year construction period
(2014-2016), more than 2,200 full-time equivalent jobs
have been created to support the development of
Tower I, and more than 10,000 full-time equivalent jobs
will be established for the property as a whole.

Metropolis, a project that will truly change the skyline
of Los Angeles, to life.”
Sitting conveniently between Los Angeles’ financial
district to the north and the entertainment district to
the south, Metropolis will provide guests and residents
with expansive views of the city, mountains, and coastline. Metropolis will feature contemporary finishes and
a variety of luxury amenities and conveniences that
make an urban living so desirable, including a gym,
outdoor four-lane swimming pool and spa, outdoor
kitchen pavilion, dog park and a children’s play area.
