Artists – dedicated, practicing artists – are like fine
wine, they just get better and better. The more maturity and experience is added to their skill and perspective; the more in-depth their interpretation becomes.
Point in case this month’s selection of artists at GDCA’s
“Vignettes”.
A common misperception is that excitement and desirability are proportional to the ‘heat’ surrounding an
artist … and that collectors should be chasing the next
hot, young emerging talent… GDCA begs to differ.
“Vignettes” serves up a broad spectrum of work, ranging from abstract to hyper-realistic oil paintings on
canvas, digital paintings on aluminum, mixed media
on plexiglass and candid street photography, which
has been processed and reinterpreted.
All of the works, regardless of their medium, impart
a sense of play, share a love of technology, of urban
structure, mise en scene and-and joie de vivre. A thinly
guided love letter to DTLA and the artistic possibilities of our times. Particularly poignant is the freshness
and vitality of the works presented – which is, as all art
should be - independent of age but rather a matter of
love of life and a keen eye to capture it.
Participating artists are Mark Brosmer, Marlene Capell,
Cheryl L. Hrudka, Stan Johnson, Stuart Marcus, Barbara Nathanson, Lisa Scadron, René Sheret, Bill Sherwood & Robert Toll.
“Vignettes” remains on view at GDCA through December 31st! For more information, please go to
