The first venue I ever had my first show in DTLA was at the Mayan Theater in DTLA,
in a collective show host by Gen Art, who highlight new talent in the fashion industry
. I Love DTLA because is not only eclectic but has some of the best restaurants , art
galleries and some of the most interesting people! For a creative guy like me this is
important to be surrounded by things or people that get you inspired!!!!
Among my favorites moments while DTLA it was my presentation at MOCA Downtown where I was invited to show my work in a museum format with a room full of
celebrities , fashionistas and some of the best fashion editors. My favorite street is
San Pedro Street without a doubt. Not only you get to see some of the most sad
scenes from the homeless living on the street of DTLA but you get to look at some
very colorful individuals that represent their own stories!
Some of the most hidden treasures of DTLA is the old movie theaters along Broadway that represent the golden era of the 30s and 40s, as well as a great art community that host an art walk twice a year.
if DTLA was movie to would be a movie directed between Fellini and Pedro Almodovar. If it was a book it could be anything because of the variety of the people living
there and the stories that they tell. If it was a perfume it would smell like Patchouli ,
very artistic , interesting and some how not always able to digest. If it was a song it
would be an opera because of its drama and the sadness that you experiment while
walking on some of the streets.
One thing that people don’t know about DTLA is that holds one of the biggest Garment communities of the world!
The places that I love in DTLA is the fabulous Walt Disney Hall, The Moca Museum
and the beautiful Union Station reminiscence of any great places of the world.
My last “Breaking News” about DTLA is the latest news about my Atelier is the
launch of my “Bespoke by Louis Verdad “ which is a “ made to order “ new project
to make my product available to a hand full of special customers.
