I am the Convener for the Science Exhibition in Tamil which is organized at Periyar
University in collaboration with Ariviyal Tamil Mandram, Government of Tamil
Nadu on 26-27 October 2009. This was celebrated in a grand manner and had been a
huge success. More than 250 models are exhibited in various branches of Science and
Technology by School, College and University students from all over Tamil Nadu. 84
prizes have been distributed for the best exhibits in the different science subjects for
various student categories. This event has been sponsored by Government of Tamil
Nadu with a financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs.

During my Office, Periyar University is able to obtain funding from Govt. of Tamil
Nadu to set up a Center for Nano Science and Technology with a financial grant to
the tune of Rs. 1 Crore.

(v)

Department of Geology established Center for Geoinformatics and Planetary
studies.

(vi)

Periyar University Campus got the face lift with the construction of Science Blocks I
& II, Library Blocks, Controller of Examination Block and University Guest
House for which I took the necessary initiative and completed the construction.
Further, approval for the construction of second floors for Science Block I & II,
second floor of Controller of Examination Building and second to fifth floors of
Library building are obtained and the work is under process.
