READERS’ RIDES What motivated you to get your current daily driver or project car? Every story is different, so check out what some of our @drivingline followers have to say about what influenced their car-buying decisions. “The Camaro started as a project car to be restored. My father and I found it about a decade ago when I was 14 and spent the next four years restoring the car to be a nice cruiser. We replaced everything on the car with new parts, although the build wasn’t nearly as serious as it is now. Eventually, the old-school muscle look wasn’t enough for me, and a new chapter in the build began. My father and I then periodically upgraded bits and pieces of the car while I saved enough money to buy upgraded parts.” JOSH YOUNG - ’68 CAMARO Tires: Nitto NT01 “I found this base-model FJ with no roof rack or anything, except 4WD and rear-differential locker. FJs also have good torque, despite the V6 engine. It currently has a 3-inch Rough County lift (I will be upgrading the suspension in the next few months) with custom-built headlights and turn signals done by LED Integrations. Additionally, it has two Kicker 12-inch subwoofers and a Wetsounds sound bar on the roof rack. It’s also got 20x12 Hostile Switchblade wheels and 35x12.50R20 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Awesome tires, by the way.” NATHAN STARK - ’07 FJ CRUISER Tires: Nitto Trail Grappler “My father originally purchased this car in November 2008, then I purchased it from him in July 2010. It was stock at the time, and now the car is running mid-10s, thanks to the added grip of the Nitto NT555 G2 tires. When I was searching for a tire to provide more grip without compromising tire life, not many options were available in 20-inch sizes. I went from a 285 squared, super-sports tire, which—at almost 600 whp—did not hook well on the street or the ’strip. I managed a 1.5 60-foot on the Nitto tires and a personal-best 10.61 at 129 mph. For anyone considering a GT-R coming from Evos and STIs, you won’t be disappointed.” SEAN D - ’09 R35 NISSAN GTR Tires: Nitto NT555 G2 “I’ve had this truck about four years. The body was on a worn-out K5 frame. I cut out the old suspension and installed a new 4-inch Rough Country setup. The interior was restored back to factory perfection, and I added a 12-inch subwoofer and amp behind the factory bench seat. The motor was rebuilt and dressed in classic Edelbrock, with a March Performance flat belt kit. All lighting has been updated to LED. I enjoy loading up my dog, Meatball, and putting as many miles on her as possible per season. I drive the hell out of it!” TREVOR JERVIS - ’64 CHEVY C10 Tires: Nitto Ridge Grappler To be featured in an upcoming issue of Driving Line’s Readers’ Rides, send a few high-resolution photos (min. 300 dpi) along with a brief bio and explanation of why your car’s special to you to: [email protected]. 80 DRIVINGLINE.COM
