“This is madness,” he muttered.

Henry got up from the floor, declining to help his American counterpart. “Exactly. We have to get out of here and start looking at another part of the river. Muso acts like he can track us down anywhere, but this continent is too big.”

Samson glared at his partner, “I meant that leaving is madness.”

Henry was speechless.

“This is big. We need this money, Henry.”

“Muso is just going to get us to find the creature and then he is going to kill all of us and dump in this river! We don’t stand a chance.”

“How do you know he will do that?”

Henry got closer to Samson, “Because that’s what I would do. Muso Itabi might be richer than me, but he is not smarter than me. I refuse to dance for him.”

“Then go,” Samson said decidedly, “but I’m staying. This is probably the only real chance we have at finding this thing. We have been at it for two years and are no closer to catching anything. I will take the risk; this is the only way.”

Henry stared at him for several moments and then turned to face the rest of the crew. He exhaled ruggedly and then turned away quickly.

“You’re all crazy,” he muttered as he flung himself into the cabin and continued steering the boat.
