Coca Cola invests $15 million to introduce new Mini Bottle Pepsi’s new Japan Cola with Japan’s most delicious sweets seasonings P C oca-Cola Canada will offer four of its best-known brands such as: Coca-Cola; Coca-Cola Zero Sugar; Diet Coke; and Sprite, in a compact and resalable 250ml ‘mini bottle’. The company is investing $14.9 million to support the rollout with upgrades to an existing production line in Ontario. The new bottle is known to be as the first of its kind in North America. The company is taking inspiration from emerging markets, where Coca-Cola utilises smaller pack sizes to drive penetration in a pressured category. The packaging which is going to be used for these bottles is 100 percent recyclable, as with other PET plastic containers. Being smaller in size it could be a problem during the packaging process because of carbonation. The mini bottle will use a coating called FreshSafe, which increases shelf-life by up to four months. The total investment of $14.9 million is going to support an upgrade to production line capabilities at Coca-Cola’s plant in Brampton in order to support the production of the mini bottle. Coca-Cola Canada President Darlene Nicosia said, “Mini bottle is one of the most exciting innovations we’ve seen in packaging in a long time. We know that people want more drink options and a mini bottle is just one way that we’re meeting that desire. And it’s not just smaller package sizes; we’re also working to bring more low- and no-calorie drinks to the market to help Canadians choose the package size and sugar content that makes sense for them.” The company increased its focus on lower-calorie and lower-sugar options since the sweetener became the object of public scrutiny a couple of years ago; the introduction ion of a smaller Coke bottle, which allows consumers to enjoy njoy the same products in smaller maller portion sizes, plays right into that strategy. Todd Parsons, ons, president and CEO of Coca- a- Cola Canada Bottling said, “We are so proud that one of our first announcements as an independent bottling company is that we have invested back in our Brampton facility. Having a local spirit and supporting our communities is very important to us and our aim is to grow our capabilities in Canada, which will, in turn, grow jobs.” The mini bottle will be available in two packages: a 250ml single-serve bottle, as well as a pack of eight 300ml bottles. Drink Asia 13 March-April 2019 epsi Japan is all set to roll out its newest creation in this spring, featuring one of Japan’s most delicious and refreshing traditional seasonings. This new Pepsi Japan Cola draws its inspiration from a Japanese food culture, which includes: starting with Japan’s love of adding salt to treats such as: watermelon; chocolate; and ice cream. This helps to draw out even more of their sweetness. But Pepsi was also impressed at how many Japanese desserts manage to provide a burst of sweetness that seamlessly transitions into a clean, crisp finish, and one way they do this is with yuzu, a Japanese citrus fruit. Pepsi, through its partnership with local distributor Suntory, has also offered special flavours just for Japan, such as Sakura, Sakura Christmas cake, and even Halloween “ghost.” And now it is Hallow with yuzu, a Japanese citrus fruit. y The flavour of Yuzu falls between f an orange and a lemon. It is sharper ora than tha former but not as intrusive as the later. This fruit is rarely eaten directly, but it is more e popular as flavouring for p cakes, dumplings, and sweet c bean jams. And this time Pepsi b is i promising a crisp, satisfying yuzu aftertaste for Pepsi Japan y Cola. C Pepsi Japan Cola will be available on sale from April 9, priced at 140 yen for a 490-millilitre. This will be a viable option for adding some extra Japanese appeal to late-season cherry blossom viewing parties.
