all the goss

topshop anger their shoppers

The idea of what the ideal women should look like has always been an extremely debatable and controversial issue. One Topshop shopper was disgusted to find an extremely skinny mannequin in one of the brands London stores. Horrified by the sight, the woman took a picture of a lady who is a size 8/10 and compared it to the legs of the model, later sharing the snaps on Twitter using the hastag #poorbodyimage. Soon the images were going viral and other young ladies were joining in, sharing pictures of their legs in comparison to the mannequin who seemed to be far skinnier than a size 6. Topshop gave the following statement about the issue: "The mannequin in question has been used in stores the past four years and is based on a standard UK size 10... the form of the mannequins needs to be of certain dimensions to allow clothing to be put on and removed" and ended by saying the mannequin is "not meant to be a representation of the average female body."
