P ERFECT L OVE
de Allende, Mexico. This UNESCO
world heritage site is romantic and is
full of the old world charm we love. We
decided not to visit San Miguel prior to
our wedding week as we wanted explor-
ing a new city to be a part of the wedding
week’s adventure. We believe that this is
symbolic to marriage as you don’t know
what it is like until you are there.
We honored Alvin’s heritage by starting
off with a traditional Chinese tea cere-
mony with a tea set that has been passed
down in his family. We served each of his
elder family member’s tea and they
drank the tea as a way of welcoming me
into their family.
THE DECOR INSPIRATION
Because the city itself is very romantic
and colorful I wanted to take advantage
of these details. Bridesmaids wore neu-
tral colors so they would look beautiful
no matter the colorful background of
the city. I opted for hanging baskets of
flowers rather than centerpieces so all
the guests could have a view and their
conversations would not be interrupted.
HER LOOK
My gown was designed by Alvina
Valenta and it was purchased in Annapo-
lis, Maryland at Wren Bridal. I wanted
something that said ‘I’m 30 and I’m
getting married’. I didn’t want anything
that made me look like a’’ little girl and
it was important to my groom that he
could stand next to me and not my
dress.
