KANSAS CITY, MO - Students chose to use the theme of art and diversity to make personal connections to freedom and equality.

As a class, we had lengthy conversations about what freedom and equality look like in our daily lives both at home and in school. Together, students worked to create an outline using various materials to express the powerful elements of this theme.

Students outlined their designs on canvas and glued yarn and fabric to the canvas to create the image of a paint brush and a pencil.

Students also created paper kaleidoscopes, paper collaged earth with blue, green and white paper, fabric runners with a linear design in oil pastel, fabric pom-poms glued around one big heart!
