Together in Educational Equality

By MeKayla R.

I chose to use a picture of the Brown v. Board of Education NHS building and surrounded it with different skin colored hands to show how this building had a huge impact on getting equality into schools. Equality in schools is very important, especially in America, because everyone should have the same equal opportunities for learning.

I used transfer paper to get the picture of the building on my fabric, and then used acrylic paint for the hands, grass, and sky. The technique I used to make the hands was I mixed the paint on a piece of palette paper, stuck my hand in the paint, and pressed my own hands onto my project.

Road to Freedom

By Savanna C.

I created a fun and whimsical piece that is meant to evoke feelings of freedom and equality. The 1970's style van is diving off into the sunset of a brighter future on the "Road to Freedom".

The sunset backdrop, clouds, van, and road were all dyed using ink and water and various techniques. I also used construction paper and aluminum accents with hot glue to hold everything together.
