I chose this idea because to me, Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. represent huge movements in our American history that brought a lot of people freedom and opportunities to express themselves without being held back.
Without these two people and many others pushing for equality we would not have the country we do today.
I chose to include the hamsa hand because it stands for protection in many societies throughout history, it is believed to provide defense against the evil eye.
I used Photoshop to enlarge the portraits of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. I used acrylic to paint all the words and the hamsa hand. I dyed fabric and used Modge Podge to adhere them all together.
