DREAM BIG #4 July 2015 | Page 101

Students brainstormed and shared ideas. Students worked as a positive and motivated community. We looked at photos on the Dream Rocket website and on space and astronomy sites.

They used markers, sharpies, and acrylic paints to express their ideas.

We obtained large recycled fabric scraps from Discount Fabrics in Berkeley, CA. The scraps were cut into 1ft by 2ft pieces. Each student first drew a sketch of the art idea on the cloth, then markers and/or paints were applied over the sketch. Parent and student volunteers sewed the panels into pairs so that a 2-foot by 2-foot panel was produced.
