Burck (left) and Doug Gordon scream across the eighth-mile finish line during qualifying at the
Mid-West Drag Racing Series’ Texas Xtreme Nationals. It was a homestate race for Burck, who
qualified No. 5 with a 3.714 and won the first round with a 3.747. Gordon, in from California,
qualified No. 3 with a 3.706 and won the first two rounds with a pair of 3.68s. He followed that
up with another 3.68 to Sean Bellemeur’s winning 3.63 in the $20,000 final round.
